Zion Lutheran Church

Overview

Zion offers two services on Sunday: 8:00am & 10:30am. The liturgy, readings, hymns, and prayers are all the same at both services. The Lord’s Supper is also served at both services every Sunday. In between the two services, Bible Study and Sunday School meet downstairs beginning at 9:30am. Coffee, tea, and doughnuts are offered in the kitchen next to the Fellowship Hall.Zion also offers a service on Wednesday at 7:00pm. The 1st Wednesday of the month is a full Divine Service with Holy Communion, and the following Wednesdays are Compline with no sermon. Bible Study meets after the Wednesday service at 7:45pm. During Advent and Lent, the Wednesday services are Evening Prayer with a sermon; a soup supper is offered at 6:00pm, but there is no Bible Study following the services. There is an additional 11:00am Matins service offered during Advent and Lent.Zion is located at 766 S. High St. in the German Village area of Columbus. There is a COTA bus line that goes directly past Zion. There is handicapped parking behind the church on Pearl Street, and there is also an elevator just inside the entrance on Pearl Street. Entering the front of the church on High Street, you will be greeted by one or more of Zion’s members and possibly Pastor. Proceeding into the sanctuary, you will be given a worship bulletin by one of the ushers. There are two different bulletins available, one is a smaller version which will require using the hymnal, and the second is a large-print bulletin which includes the entire service and the hymns. We use the Lutheran Service Book as our hymnal and there are six located in each pew. The services are traditional and almost always follow the hymnal. If you are a visitor who would like to receive the Lord’s Supper, please talk with an elder or Pastor prior to taking communion. After the service, you may exit through the front of the church where Pastor will greet you on your way out.For security, the doors unlock 15 minutes prior to service and lock 5 minutes after service has started. If you are late, please use the call box, and one of the ushers will open the door for you.
