Overview

Good Shepherd serves the communities of the middle of Mississippi's Gulf Coast, which include an Air Force Base, a SeaBee base, four coastal cities (Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Gulfport, and Long Beach), and two non-coastal cities (D'Iberville and Vancleave). Weekly attendance hovers around 50, depending on the time of year. Sunday morning Bible Study, at 9am, typically covers the Old Testament reading for the day. The pastor leads, or an elder will if the pastor is teaching confirmation. We use Divine Service setting 3 accompanied by an organ or piano, and sometimes also a guitar. The pastor chants throughout the service. We chant the Psalm (replacing the Introit) responsively, whole verse by whole verse, unless our organist and pianist are both away. Our festival services: Reformation, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, Advent/Lent at 7pm Christmas Day service at 10 or 10:30am (please call ahead) Ash Wednesday service 10am and 7pm. Maundy Thursday 7pm Good Friday 10am and or 7pm (please call ahead) Easter Sunrise (non-communion) on the beach near the lighthouse beginning at Sunrise followed by Easter breakfast back at the Fellowship Hall and Easter Day Mass at 10:30am If you desire to receive communion with us please speak to Pr Cox or one of the elders before service, and or bring a letter of recommendation from your home pastor. If you arrive late, please refrain from attempting to commune, and speak with Pr Cox after service. Men's Bible Study is Monday mornings at 8am, followed by work-crew.
